Pacentro - A brigand among the relatives of the Ciccone? / Tra i parenti
di Madonna ci fu il brigante Mosca
In 1868, a few years after the establishment of the kingdom of Italy, Nicola Ciccone (alias "Mosca"), 38, was sentenced with others for a number of crimes. After the sentence Mosca disappeared and his destiny is still unknown. Recent historiography is rediscovering the figures of some brigands as patriots (faithful to the older regime) or defenders of the poor population against the foreign Piedmontese.
